Admission to the Graduate Program in Philosophy at Bahia (PPGF/UFBA) is a rigorous and detailed process designed to ensure that selected candidates have the necessary qualifications for academic success. The PPGF offers master's and doctoral programs in various areas of knowledge.
The selection process begins with the publication of a call for applications each semester, available on the PPGF website and on the SIGAA platform. The call contains all the necessary information, such as the number of available spots, application requirements, selection criteria, and important dates. In general, each selection cycle reserves two exclusive spots for the master’s program and two for the doctoral program for foreign applicants who are not residents of Brazil. Additionally, UFBA participates in international cooperation programs such as the International Cooperation Group of Brazilian Universities (GCUB) (link), through which the PPGF may offer additional spots for international students.
Applicants must hold a recognized undergraduate degree and meet the specific requirements outlined in the call for applications. Applications are submitted online through the Integrated Academic Activities Management System (SIGAA), where applicants must complete a form and upload the required documents — usually including a CV, academic transcripts, a research proposal, among others — as detailed in the respective call.
The selection process consists of several stages, typically including evaluation of the CV, analysis of the research proposal, and interviews. It is essential that the research proposal aligns with the areas of expertise of the faculty, which can be consulted here.
After all stages are completed, the results are published on the PPGF website and on the SIGAA platform. Approved candidates must then complete their enrollment by presenting original documents and meeting the deadlines established in the UFBA academic calendar.
